Enabling Healthcare Professionals
to Serve Around the World
Who Benefits from Project CanMedSend?
Young healthcare professionals, who are restricted by their educational debt;
Mission Sending Agencies (MSA’s) in need of available healthcare missionaries;
People who do not have access to medical or dental care and who rely on healthcare services provided by missions.
Are You a Candidate for Assistance from CanMedSend?
If you are a recent healthcare professional graduate (ready to start working), with a call to the mission field, and have been recruited by a Christian Mission Sending Agency, which meets the criteria for partnership with CanMedSend, you may be elligible for assistance. With CanMedSend, your intention, to become involved in missions, can become a reality.
Candidate Sponsorship Plans
a) Deferred Bursary Plan:
CMS takes over the missionary's loan payments for a short-term placement of 1–2 years. The missionary resumes loan payments upon completion of their assignment.
b) Career Grant Plan:
In the case of a career missionary, CMS will commit to paying the legitimate student-loan debt in full.
Isn't it unrealistic to expect someone to make a lifetime career commitment?
The duration of commitment is between the candidate and their MSA. CMS responds to the financial need with either the Deferred Bursary or the Career Grant plan. If circumstances change, someone on a Deferred Bursary plan could be transferred to a Career Grant plan, or vice versa, at a future date.
What if you are involved with a MSA that is not a CanMedSend partner?
Provide them with information about CMS, and encourage them to explore becoming a partner.
What are the Benefits to Mission Sending Agencies?
MSA’s, who are involved in medical or dental services and have partnered with CanMedSend, will be able to recruit recent graduates who are still paying off their student debts, to fill professional vacancies in healthcare on the mission field.
How can I become aware of the healthcare professional needs and positions that exist?
CMS performs periodic polls among our partner Mission Sending Agencies and posts the results on the CMDS website. We also provide links on our website to our MSA partners’ websites.
What assistance is available for healthcare professionals that are currently still in training?
CMS does not have any financial aid available, but is involved in developing educational packages and workshops, targeted at assisting professionals-in-training, with strategies for adopting a more simple lifestyle that will help minimize debt-load.
How does CanMedSend raise funds to support Candidates in mission service?
CMS receives some funding from the Sustaining Partner and Associate Partner fees from our MSA partners. The majority of funding is received from private individuals and foundations who include CMS in their charitable planned giving programs.
