Project CanMedSend operates under the umbrella of the
Christian Medical and Dental Society of Canada and enables healthcare professionals to provide medical and dental services to the needy through Canadian Mission Sending Agencies (MSA’s).

Mission: What We Do.
CanMedSend enables the release of full-time healthcare professionals into the mission field by assuming the burden of their student loan payments.
How Does the Project Work?
Trained men and women with the desire to serve in medical/dental mission fields are often restricted by the debt incurred due to the cost of their education. At graduation, medical and dental students commonly have student loans greater than $150,000. In response to the financial need of these potential missionaries and the need for additional healthcare workers on the mission field,
CMS has created a program to assist with student loan payments of early-career professionals who are:
- planning to serve as full-time medical or dental missionaries;
- being sent to under-served areas of the world, having been selected and trained by a Canadian Mission Sending Agency partner;
- referred to us for assistance by a Canadian Mission Sending Agency partner.
Who Benefits from Project CanMedSend?
- Young healthcare professionals, who are restricted by their educational debt;
- Mission Sending Agencies in need of available healthcare missionaries;
- People who do not have access to medical or dental care and rely on healthcare services provided by missions.
What are the Benefits to Trainees?
Young healthcare professionals, who are called to serve on the mission field, will be able to respond earlier to their calling.
What are the Benefits to Mission Sending Agencies
MSA’s, who are involved in medical or dental services and have partnered with CanMedSend, will be able to recruit more recent graduates to fill professional vacancies in healthcare on the mission field.
Categories of Partnership
There are two different types of partnerships with CanMedSend:
Associate Partnership
CanMedSend takes over the missionary's loan payments for the term of the overseas placement. The missionary repays CanMedSend at a later date (Deferred Bursary Plan).
Sustaining Partnership
In this case, the missionary is not returning, and the loan repayment is not required (Career Grant Plan).

Donations to CanMedSend will be receipted by Christian Medical and Dental Society (CMDS). A Management Committee oversees the finances of CanMedSend, while a Governing Board oversees the strategic direction and governance of the organization.
