Nominations are now being accepted for the CMDS National Awards, to presented at the 2012 National Conference in Montreal, May 3-6, 2012. There are two awards to be presented:
CMDS Distinguished Christian Leadership AwardChristian Medical and Dental Society of Canada gives out the "Distinguished Christian Leadership Award" to a CMDS member who has made significant contributions to Jesus Christ and His Church within the healthcare professions across Canada. CMDS is compelled to recognize and honor those within our membership who have provided exceptional leadership while living lives that faithfully reflect the God they serve. Their leadership is not explained by a position of authority but rather by their integrity and strong sense of being motivated to influence culture and healthcare by a higher calling, a calling given by God. Recipients of this award have demonstrated leadership among their peers and within our membership organization at the student, chapter, or national level. Their service will have been recognized as contributing to God’s Kingdom through distinctive and meritorious service in areas such as public affairs, education, church or government. Their leadership has been effective in motivating other Christian healthcare professionals to live up to their God-given potential in the Kingdom. This award beautifully and symbolically displays what we in the Christian Medical and Dental Society community feel truly reflects the leadership modeled by our Lord Jesus Christ. CMDS Distinguished Christian Service AwardChristian Medical and Dental Society of Canada awards the “CMDS Distinguished Christian Service Award" to a CMDS member who has made a significant contribution to Jesus Christ and His Church by providing healthcare in their communities and around the world. Their service is recognized as contributing to God’s Kingdom through distinctive and meritorious service providing both healthcare for the body and spiritual care for the soul. CMDS is proud of many members who serve above and beyond their professional duty displaying Christian values while providing excellent healthcare within their communities. However, only a few give sacrificially of their time, enduring loss of peer recognition and income while living a life of service to God in the developing world. Their example has inspired other Christian healthcare professionals to live lives of generosity locally, nationally and internationally. For these reasons we are compelled to recognize and honor those select few within our membership who have given so much. Their service is not explained by expectation of rewards received here on earth but rather by their integrity and strong sense of being motivated to serve by a higher calling, a calling given by God. The "CMDS Distinguished Christian Service Award" beautifully and symbolically displays what we in the Christian Medical and Dental Society community feel truly reflects the service modeled by our Lord Jesus Christ.
