Enabling Healthcare Professionals
to Serve Around the World
What are the Benefits to Mission Sending Agencies (MSA's)
Some mission hospitals and clinics are without a single healthcare professional to minister to the sick and the dying showing up at their door. This represents a waste of mission resources and many lost opportunities to spread the love and the gospel of Jesus Christ. Many MSA’s are having difficulty recruiting healthcare workers for the mission field. The student loan burdens of recent graduates often prevent them from considering missionary service. MSA’s, who have met the criteria for partnership with
CanMedSend, will be able to recruit more recent graduates, to fill professional vacancies in healthcare on the mission field.
Mission Sending Agency Partners
A Canadian Mission Sending Agency (MSA) is any organization that recruits, prepares and sponsors applicants for missionary service. As a Canadian Mission Sending Agency, you can:
become a partner with us;
refer to us potential missionaries who have been accepted for service by your organization but who are unable to go because of the burden of their educational debt;
pray with us for guidance, direction and funding as we move this project forward with the Lord’s blessing.
To be eligible for partnership with project CanMedSend, an agency must be involved in medical or dental services and be an incorporated, non-profit organization with:
Some of our existing partners include:
The C&MA
CrossWorld
The Leprosy Mission
Samaritan’s Purse
Categories of Partnership
There are two different types of partnerships with
CanMedSend:
Associate Partnership (involves annual fee of $2000, when candidate supported.)
CanMedSend takes over the missionary's loan payments for the term of the overseas placement. The missionary repays CanMedSend at a later date (Deferred Bursary Plan).
Sustaining Partnership (involves initiation fee of $5000, plus annual fee when candidate supported.)
In this case, the missionary is not returning, and the loan repayment is not required (Career Grant Plan).
Admistration of Project CanMedSend
A Management Committee oversees the finances of CanMedSend, while a Governing Board, consisting of three members of the Management Committee plus three others, oversees the strategic direction and governance of the organization. One of the Board members is assigned to represent our partner Mission Sending Agencies (MSA’s). These governing bodies prayerfully seek God’s leading in their decision making.
CanMedSend raises funds from private individuals, to help fund this project. To increase awareness of this program, a representative from CMS speaks to groups of doctors, dentists and students across Canada.
